Faith formation is at the heart of our community life at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. God calls us to draw close, and we are all shaped by our knowledge and experience of the Divine. Fueled by our own questions and yearnings for God, we have developed a Christian formation program that focuses on spiritual growth for both the adult and the child. All, from cradle Catholics to those investigating Catholicism, are welcome on this joyful journey.
Learning and growing in faith includes all opportunities that help young and old continuously build their relationship with God. Our faith lives are nurtured not only in the classroom but also through the liturgy, sacraments, prayer, community, service to others and as a Jesuit led parish through Ignatian spirituality. Together they help form a profoundly personal and joyful expression of faith, unique to each person’s relationship with God.
Parish children, ages 3-12 grow in faith through The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) religious program. It is rooted in the Bible, the liturgy of the church, and the educational principles of Maria Montessori. In the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, we follow the child into the depths of his or her existing relationship with God. A prepared environment called an "atrium" contains simple yet beautiful materials for the child to use. Led by the Holy Spirit, the true teacher in the atrium, the child discovers and experiences both religious education and spiritual formation.
