Loaves and Fishes is a non-profit and non-denomination organization established in Charlotte 35 years ago to help neighbors who are having financial difficulty.  This ministry helps by distributing a week's worth of food to families.

In 2009 over 102,000 people received food that was either donated to Loaves and Fishes or they purchased the food from donations.  When this organization began they had one pantry and fed 1,000 people the first year.

Loaves and Fishes is primarily a volunteer organization (450 volunteers and 10 paid staff) who work in 18 pantries throughout the city.  St. Peter's works in conjunction with First Presbyterian Church in helping to staff their pantry on the 1st, 2nd & 3rd Fridays of every month.  Also, volunteers help unload the food truck on the 1st Thursday of every month.
