Homeless Relief Ministry

Homeless Relief Ministry (HRM) Imagine you have a family, but little or no income to feed or house them. In addition to living in poverty, what if you have disabilities, mental health or substance abuse conditions?  Anything we do in our community to help alleviate homelessness is a life changer for these families.

While many of us have been staying home to avoid contagion, our partner organization, Supportive Housing Communities, has continued to place people into homes from homeless shelters. We have been delivering furniture and housewares to these families and are now running low on the items listed below. If you would like to make a donation, please contact Peggy Roche at: [email protected] or Betsy Chapman at: [email protected] to schedule a pick up time.

Bedroom dressers (not too large) and chests of drawers
Night Stands
New bed pillows
Small kitchen tables (4 top or smaller) and kitchen chairs
Sofas, love seats and living room chairs (in good condition)
Coffee tables, end tables
TV stands
Small area rugs
Stick vacuums
Working flat screen TV's (with base and remote)
We do not accept sleeper sofas, sectionals, armoires, entertainment centers, large bookshelves, breakfronts, or glass topped tables.

A joint ministry of the parishes of St. Peter, St. Vincent’s, and St. Matthew, the Homeless Relief Ministry collects donated furniture, house wares, and food items to help set up apartments for the homeless. We work with Supportive Housing Communities and the Angel House Maternity Home, two local agencies which help their clients to find apartments and go through the process of applying for assistance. Since HRM’s inception last year, we have helped welcome home 74 individuals in 41 different homes thanks to the dedication of our volunteers and generous donations of furniture, house wares and money from our parishioners.
