Ignatian Prayer of the Examen

This prayer allows a growing awareness of God's movement in your daily life.
Exploring and practicing the Examen.
Your daily conversation with God begins here…

This workshop is appropriate for anyone interested in learning about the Examen prayer or in gaining a deeper understanding of it. Led by St. Peter Ignatian Spirituality team members, we explore this powerful but simple prayer using Reimagining the Ignatian Examen by Mark Thibodeaux, SJ as our text. Groups meet for 1 hour and 15 minutes weekly for 4 weeks via Zoom. Sessions include group prayer, faith sharing and reflection, and an overview of the individual prayer exercises to be practiced in the week ahead.  Space is limited due to the small group nature of this of this offering. Next session TBA.

One of the greatest mystics of all time and founder of the Jesuits, St. Ignatius of Loyola, called the Examen prayer the most important quarter of an hour of a person’s day. The 500-year-old daily practice of honest self-assessment and reflection is a founding principle of Ignatian spirituality. When practiced regularly the Examen promises to connect our consciousness to the divine presence that is with us at all times and in all things and clarifies our response to it.

Reviews by previous participants:
“The Examen is a very specific, realistic, grounded tool everybody can use.”
Reimagining the Examen retreat is a practical experience of God's love and hope through prayer.”
“…. made me more aware and in the moment.”
“…a great experience that  I would definitely recommend.”
